Gary Wayne Burris, 69, of Kailua-Kona died March 19 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Santa Maria, Calif., he was a retired cash handler for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), musician, bassist and member of Bandanna & Coffee and the Larry Norman rock band People, which had a 1968 hit with a cover of the Zombies’ “I Love You.” Private service held.
